1. Agreement to Terms

By accessing or using Opius at opius.dev and/or its SMS messaging service, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, please do not use our service.

2. Description of Service

Opius is an AI-powered chat service that helps parents and guardians get instant answers about their children's school data. The service uses browser automation to access school platforms (Schoology, ParentVUE, Google Classroom, etc.) using credentials you provide, and returns information about homework assignments, grades, schedules, and other school activities. The service is available via web chat and SMS text messaging.

3. Account & Credentials

To use Opius, you must:

• Create an account with a valid email address
• Provide your school platform login credentials, which are encrypted and stored securely
• Be the parent or legal guardian of the student whose school data you are accessing

You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account and for all activities that occur under your account.

4. Acceptable Use

You agree to use Opius only for lawful purposes and agree not to:

• Access school data of students you are not authorized to view
• Use the service to violate any school's terms of use
• Attempt to circumvent security measures
• Share your account with unauthorized individuals
• Use the service for any unlawful purpose

5. AI-Generated Responses

Opius uses artificial intelligence to interpret and present school data. While we strive for accuracy, AI-generated responses may occasionally contain errors or misinterpretations. Always verify critical information (such as due dates, grades, or schedules) directly with your child's school or through the school platform. Opius is a convenience tool and should not be relied upon as the sole source of truth for academic decisions.

7. Intellectual Property

All content, features, and functionality of Opius, including software, text, graphics, and logos, are the property of Starfish Engineering and are protected by intellectual property laws. Your school data belongs to you and/or your school district.

8. Disclaimer of Warranties

Opius is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind. We do not guarantee that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that AI-generated responses will be completely accurate. School platform availability is outside our control. We are not affiliated with or endorsed by any school district or educational institution.

9. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Opius and Starfish Engineering shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the service, including but not limited to reliance on AI-generated information about school assignments, grades, or schedules.

10. Termination

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your access to Opius at any time for violation of these terms or for any other reason. You may delete your account and all associated data at any time through the Settings page.

11. Changes to Terms

We reserve the right to modify these Terms of Service at any time. Changes will be effective immediately upon posting to our website. Your continued use of Opius after any changes constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.

12. Governing Law

These Terms of Service shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the United States, without regard to conflict of law provisions.
